While I haven’t been able to head down to Christchurch to work on my car I have been playing with the indicator stalks.
I cut off the connectors on that back which were big and bulky and were designed for large gauge wire in a car not running relays for lights etc, So after I cut them off I soldered some nice thin wire to the base of where each pin comes through the moulded plastic. Then covered it all up with RTV to protect it from water dust etc and provide support to the wire.
Also cut of everything not needed like the intermitant wiper stuff which is not needed for my wiper motor.
Now I just have to machine up some nice alloy levers to slot onto the stalks there, much nicer than the faded old plastic ones from the orginal, and make up a fibreglass cover for it all, as can be seen from the 1st photo I have removed about 30mm-60mm from the depth of the whole assembly, so the new cover can be a lot more slimline and not so ugly..
